The constant confusion around migraines is frustrating me and many migraine sufferers!
Do you suffer migraines? Have you been told you just need to manage them? Are you hoping that that they will just go away?
Migraine is the third most common disease in the world

There is no denying that migraines are one of the most debilitating recurrent diseases that humans experience.
According to many sufferers and practitioners we are no closer to understanding them. Migraines are too often made out to be this random super headache and the result of bad luck, bad genes or some unique trigger or trigger combination.
People are told to accept that they have migraines, and told they’ll most likely have them the rest of their lives. If there is a family history of migraines, you may be directed to look at those other family members for an idea when your migraines may cease.

Most sufferers are instructed to manage their migraines. Take your medication, or always have it with you, and watch out for your triggers, and any new ones that may randomly pop up.
Thankfully, the causative mechanism of migraines is scientifically well known.
“Migraines are the modified nerve expression along the trigemino-vascular nerve pathway due to an overstimulated mid-brain”
This is also one of my biggest frustrations. The reason being either health practitioners have not kept up with recent research or if they do know this, they don’t know how to treat it.
If you know this information and you know the neurology of the brain, specifically the mid-brain, then you know the body systems that can affect it.
If you resolve the issues with these involved systems, then you can wind-down the mid-brain. In almost all people this will result in the reduced occurrence and intensity of migraines as a minimum and the elimination in most people.
Migraines are not an enigma to be feared. Migraines are a known neurological expression that you can improve and even resolve.
Are you are sick and tired of managing your migraines, frustrated with the lost days due to migraine and really want to start doing something about it.
So, are you prepared to take action to get rid of migraines?
If so, then here are my 3 top tips, that relate to areas that are some of the main drivers to an over stimulated mid, that you can do right now to start reducing your risks:

1. Decrease technology use – stop looking at those bright flashing screens, this includes all time spent mobile phones and laptops. Keep your use under 1 hour a day.
2. Reduce stimulatory food – there are certain types of foods that have a stimulatory effect on the brain. These foods excite the brain and stress pathways and cause wind-up in the midbrain. The most irritating foods to remove are a class called night shade vegetables (potato, tomato, capsicum, chilli, eggplant, goji berries, paprika) these can drive the sympathetic system and potentially may be a problem for many. Other foods to eliminate are alcohol, caffeine and confectionary.
3. Reduce auditory stimulation – too many auditory inputs put the brain under stress as it must filter and categorise the different audio sources. How do I do that you may ask? During a migraine you often have no choice, however, to avoid excessive stimulation at other times follow the following:
a. Don’t have the TV or radio on or music playing when you are talking to someone
b. If you’re watching TV, close doors to the kitchen, laundry or other rooms where there are machines running, music is playing or people are talking
c. Limit your time at noisy locations such as shopping centres
