Neuroemotional Technique

Neuroemotional Technique

Stress is rapidly becoming one of the biggest causes of changes to quality of life in the western world. The effects of stress are on the human body are broad. Sleep deprivation, autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, digestive problems, neurological problems and much more have all been associated with changes in stress.

At the heart of our feelings of stress is a key area of the brain known as the limbic system. One of the key functions of our Limbic system is to stimulate our stress centres when memories of past stressors are triggered. This mechanism is designed to help protect us from predators by triggering protective mechanisms when memories of previous threats are relived.

This response is dampened or modulated by many other areas of our brain such as our frontal cortex and our stress and reproductive hormones. However, when stress becomes chronic the delicate balance that is the limbic system can become distorted leading to abnormal responses and unwanted feelings.

Some people experience this in a physical manner such as a headache that returns after having a busy day at work whilst others might feel this as neck, shoulder or joint pain when they’re stressed, sad or angry.

How Does Net Help?

NET is not a form of psychotherapy, counselling, psychology or any other similar treatment. NET is purely about helping to rebalance the delicate mechanism that is the limbic system. In fact, one could argue that it is a brain-based neurologically treatment.

The goal of NET is to reduce the stress response associated with events by lessening the activation of the stress centres. Whilst it is still early days in the research, recent research has shown NET may have its most profound affect on the amygdala and parahippocampus, two key areas that play a part in the limbic system.1 These areas of the brain are critical in memory encoding and recall.

NET helps by allowing our practitioners to assess whether your back pain, health problem or neurological issue may have an emotional, or limbic, basis to it or whether your emotional state might be exacerbating your problem.

What Does an Net Session Involve?

NET combines the modern scientific understanding of limbic-stress system (HPA Axis) interaction with traditional Eastern theories.

During a session, the motor aspect of the nervous system (muscle function) is assessed to identify potential emotional problems that may be manifesting themselves physically, neurologically or physiologically.

Once identified, the correction process is simple, effective, safe and doesn’t require a lot of discussion or interaction.

Making an Net Appointment

Our Neuro Emotional Technique Melbourne team is always here for you.

There is no need to stress about making a specific appointment for NET, as part of our initial assessment process, our team will identify if an emotional component is likely to be part of your problem.

As is with every assessment we conduct, our team will conduct a thorough history to understand your problem and how it is affecting you. Because we truly want to understand you and your problem, our team will then specifically ask you what success looks like for you, what is it you want to achieve from your time with us.

Once we are clear on your goals for care and we have completed your assessment, we’ll map out a step by step road map of what is required for you to obtain that goal. We’ll then break down all the procedures that might need to be used and let you know whether NET is the right course of action for you or if a different approach might result in a better or quicker result.

Either way, we will always work with you to achieve the goals that you desire.

To get started, simply book an appointment, or call our team on 9318 7758 and we’ll arrange a time for you to be assessed. Our friendly Reception team are here to guide and help you through the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many people are often concerned whether the practitioners they are looking to can help them. That’s completely normal and we understand this. But there truly is only one true way of knowing whether we can help you or not and that is with a thorough assessment. What we can say is that we promise to be truthful, open and honest with our findings and also work with you to achieve goals you would like to achieve in ways you feel comfortable in achieving them. We understand for many people they still feel a little insecure, and that’s ok. So if you would like to have a brief chat with one of our practitioners about your case prior to coming in, arrange a 10 minute phone appointment with one of our practitioners so we can quickly work out if your problem is one we often work with.

Your initial assessment is the most important appointment you’ll have with our team. Your initial assessment provides us with the time to gather all the important bits of information we need to adequately identify the cause of your problems and work with you heading forward. It is comprised of various health, neurological, physiological and biomechanical tests designed to not only find the cause of your problem, but to help us identify any other potential problems that might be developing.

Often we may require the use of further assessments such as our digital foot scanning technology or heart rate variability technology. In some circumstances we may need to refer you for specialized imagery, such as X-Rays or MRI, or for various laboratory tests. Rest assured our team will walk you through this process so there are no worries or fears along the way.

The complete process of an initial assessment can take up to one hour depending upon the complexity of your problem.

Most health funds have some form of rebate for Chiropractic services. A quick call to your private health insurance provider should be able to answer this for you. Usually there is a separate section for ancillary healthcare which includes Chiropractic, Osteopathy, physiotherapy and other similar health care practices. So simply give your insurer a call and they’ll be able to advise you on your level of coverage.

In terms of our office, when you attend for your appointment we’ll provide you with an itemized receipt which you can use to immediately claim your assessment off. This allows you to keep track of your rebates without any stress at all.

Chiropractic care is not directly medicare rebatable in Australia. However, our practitioners do like working with your GP to provide an integrative approach to your health. As such, our team do accept Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) arrangements which allows for some rebates to be paid by medicare.

If you’re unsure or have specific questions in relation to the use of your EPC plan, just give our office a call and we’ll discuss its use with you further.

We have our own specific parking available right behind our office. Feel free to park within this space. Otherwise, there is free parking available on the road alongside our office on Curtin Street.

Tottenham station is approximately 1.5km along Ashley Street and Dobson’s Reserve bus stop is also a mere 50m from our office. Many people attending our office get here via the bus and train.
